I am a Creative Director, Screenwriter and freelance cinematographer based in Leeds currently studying at university level.
I have over two years of experience in directing and screenwriting and eight years of experience in photography. Role: Behind The Scenes Photographer and Runner
Synopsis: 'When a newcomer starts her first night shift, she finds out the dark history of the library..'
Whilst working on the set of 'The Shriek' (2020) - Dir. Liam Geeson, I was brought on board to assist production as a runner, before then being promoted as Behind The Scenes Photographer. I worked closely with the crew to capture the fun and warm atmosphere on set.
'Kira?' (2021) - Psychological Drama (Short Film)

Synopsis:'Ellie' is seen to have it all, the ‘perfect’ aesthetic, the ‘perfect’ boyfriend, and all in all the ‘perfect’ life. 'Kira' has always admired her, from a distance, but never actually interacted with her. 'Kira' has always wanted to be 'Ellie', and as interest becomes an unhealthy obsession, 'Kira' will do whatever it takes to be like her whatever it takes to become her even if it means losing herself. It is a coming of age film, that depicts the thoughts, from research that most teenage girls have felt at least one point in their lives.
'Simon Said' - Drama (Short Film)

Synopsis: Music is Charlie's passion and is what he is studying at university. However Charlie's mental health is declining, dealing with the separation of his parents. Charlie is struggling to connect properly with anybody, until he meets Simon who leads him to a road of recovery.

My Next Steps
I am currently studying my BA HONS at University Centre Leeds. Taking a degree in Film & Screen Media has provided me with the confidence to get out into the film industry, in addition to forming the pathway and creating the groundwork needed to get to the next stage of my future career.
the Creative Screenwriting process
How exactly does J.Reid Media do it?
I've created screenplays and worked with other creatives to develop a screenplay for productions in the past, and every time without fail I've been asked "How do you do it?" "Where do your ideas come from?" And if I'm entirely honest, there's so many different ways that I could answer those questions. My ideas normally come to me at night when I try to sleep, as a child my mother always said that I had an amazing imagination, I spent most of my free time reading and when I wasn't reading you would mostly find me writing, whether it be scripts in hopes that it would, one day develop into a film or play or writing fiction stories. Another place that I would get ideas from, as I got older was real scenarios that I had either been involved in or had seen amongst my peers.
I have been mostly inspired by psychological film, dramas in particular. I love films that make you think of why a certain character is behaving in a certain way, and what other characters do in reaction to those characters choices. I am looking to create films that focus on subjects that are rarely discussed, either because they are too difficult to put into words, or because they more emotive as a visual piece. Typically, especially with my most recent project 'Kira?' (2021), I have been inspired to write scripts by my favourite tracks by famous artists as well as coming up with new ideas from tracks that I have been newly introduced to.
